Planetshakers, "Made for Worship" [OPC10 Q1 2014]

The Planetshakers are making their first quarter of the year count as two tracks from their brand new album Endless Praise topped the OPC Hit chart. Both spent two weeks at #1, but this song which made it to the quarterly tally is the longer-staying entry. Here's "Made for Worship" at #4:

Laura Story, "God of Every Story" [OPC10 Q3 2013]

Laura Story has been a channel of "Blessings" the past year. Not only did her hit song serve as a beautiful encouragement that God's blessings could also come from the hardships we experience in life, the title track of her fourth album also won a Grammy for Best Contemporary Christian Song, and three GMA Dove Awards including Song of the Year.

This year, Laura's story (pun intended) continues with another album and another song. This time, she tells us no matter what difficulties you are facing now, God is still in control and He's still the God of your story. It reminds us that though we may not understand at times, God is still faithful and He will carry you through victorious in the end. Here's "God of Every Story" which finishes at #10 on OPC's Overall Picks for the third quarter of 2013:

Building 429, "We Won't Be Shaken" [OPC10 Q2 2013]

Building 429 has captured my ears since they debuted with "Glory Defined" way back 2004. True to their band name based on Ephesians 4:29 to build people up, they continue to make one hit after another that provide inspiration and encouragement to its listeners, pointing to the one true hope of the nations, Jesus. A lot of their songs are on my favorites list, the most recent one being "Right Beside You" featuring Fireflight's Dawn Michelle. And on this blog's latest quarterly tally, Jason Roy and company manage to finish at #8! Here's a live performance of their single "We Won't Be Shaken", followed by the OPC10 Top Picks from April to June:

Britt Nicole, "Gold" (Acoustic) [OPC10 Q1 2013]

It's been the Yeng Constantino show on our Pinoy Picks chart for the first quarter of 2013. She topped the first month with "B.A.B.A.Y." and the following two months with "Alaala." She's also the only one who's got two entries on our Overall Picks. Meanwhile, it's Britt Nicole who's definitely having her time to shine as she manages to stay on the chart for the second quarter in a row. Maroon 5, "Payphone" [OPC10 Q2 2012]

Duets reign supreme on this blog's Top 10 for the 2nd Quarter of 2011. "I Do," Marie Digby's duet with Jericho Rosales, is our #1 overall pick; while "In Love with You" by Christian Bautista and Angeline Quinto is our #1 Pinoy pick. Meanwhile, I've been wanting to feature this song for a while now, but so far, only its explicit version has been officially uploaded to Youtube. However, I was able to find this clean version from Soundcloud, so finally, it's here on the spotlight. Avril Lavigne Gets Pushed to #1 [OPC10 Q1 2012]

Avril Lavigne might not have topped the weekly or monthly OPC10 charts from January to March. Yet, after consistently being in the Top 5, she outdoes all others and still finds herself at #1 on the quarterly tally. "Push" is a promotional song from her album Goodbye Lullaby (officially the fourth single in Japan), which also topped some local radio charts earlier this year. Her successful February Black Star Tour concert in Manila also gave her a boost on this blog's rankings. OPC Quarterly Picks [Q4 2011]

One. Hit. Combo. One, because it's #1. Hit, because it had "hit" written all over it. And combo, since Parokya ni Edgar and Gloc-9 are definitely a deadly combo when they collaborate. That's why they take the top honors this quarter. "One Hit Combo" lands at #1 on the Pinoy chart for the 4th Quarter of 2011.

OPC Quarterly Picks [Q3 2011]

Time to recall what happened on this blog's song picks from July to September. Looking at the music videos that I include in each post, only Rebecca Black is in the Overall Top 10 for Quarter 3 that hasn't been featured previously. While others find her really annoying, I would go on the record to say that yeah, she doesn't have the best voice quality, but it's tolerable. With the right songs, she might just do okay in the music scene.

She actually reminds me of Lolly, of "Viva La Radio" fame who also did a cover of "Mickey" (though I'd prefer Lolly over Becky). Anyway, here's Miss Friday with "My Moment" which is #8 on the tally. The full list follows after the embedded video.
